WhatsApp fans were left baffled by small but notable tweaks to the app, which caused quite a stir.
Enthusiastic messengers have noticed the revamped look in recent days, with some expressing that they have been “baffled” by the modifications, and calls to reverse the changes are growing louder.
For more than fifteen years, within the application’s chat interface, users could discern the status and availability of their contacts. To check someone’s status, you’ll see if they’re “online” or perhaps responding, indicated by “typing” or “recording audio.”
Until now these indicators were not in capital letters, but this is no longer the case, reports Bristol Live. After spotting the change, users took to social media to vent, with some calling it “wrong.”
These eagle-eyed WhatsAppers have noticed that these in-app messages now feature a capital letter at the beginning. TikTok user Ellie, who goes by @ellsdq, aired her complaints on the platform, Bristol Live reports.
In his video, he commented: “Is anyone else really baffled by the capital O in ‘online’, the capital T in ‘write’ and the capital R in ‘record a voice note’ on WhatsApp? It’s puzzling me and making me It’s irritating.”

Amy_oncloud9 speculated: “Do you think the update team just had nothing to do this week and had to change something to make it look like it was working?”
MirahKerix shared her confusion: “OMG I’ve been staring at this for the last 2 days wondering why it seems so strange to me.”
