Meta Quest 3 has really upped the game when it comes to standalone VR. Finally we have a headset that can not only play games on the go completely untethered, but also if you use its clever Air Link feature, either with a USB cable or even with fast wifi to play PCVR games or use the Unreal Engine VR trick to play countless Unreal. Motor games in virtual reality that were never designed for the medium.
However, today, as much as we love using our Quest 3 to watch 3D movies and the like, we’ll be looking at some of the interesting games coming to the Quest 3 independently over the rest of the year.

New Quest 3 games
New games are announced for Quest 3 all the time, mainly because its popularity is growing. We already saw that it outsold the PSVR2 last year by 30 headsets to one at any given time. We delved into headphones in general in our recent article Is the Meta Quest 3 worth it? Spoiler alert, it was a resounding yes, but it means nothing if the supply of quality games dries up. Fortunately, there’s no sign of that on the horizon for the newly released hardware, so here are some titles to put on your wishlist.
Arcade Paradise VR
We can know how many of you were interested in our news announcing Arcade Paradise VR that will be popular when it is released shortly. The original Arcade Paradise was also a huge hit, but the prospect of reliving that retro feel in virtual reality is sure to take it to the next level.
There’s a ton of new content being added specifically to the VR version, so even if you took some life out of the original release, there’ll still be plenty of new stuff here for you. And it’s in virtual reality.
Golf with ultimate swing
Announced this week, the fun golf gaming geniuses of the last 30 years and more, dating back to the original Playstation, Clap Hanz are bringing their unique take on clubs to the Quest 3 and it’s already going to be amazing. If you’ve never been lucky enough to play Everybody’s Golf or even Easy Come Easy Golf on Apple Arcade, you should make it your mission to do so before this 1-4 player VR version hits the Quest Store.
Contractor confrontation
Contractors was a big Quest hit for those who wanted to bring their Call of Duty FPS fetish to VR and now the follow-up, Contractors Showdown, is scheduled for release this spring and you can get a decent pre-order price if you jump on it. At the beginning of.
It’s being labeled as the biggest Battle Royale in VR to date and it’s going to be an instant hit, there’s no doubt about it.
However, VR shooters are serious business and certainly not for anyone who might suffer from the effects of motion sickness, but if you get into this, before you know it, you’ll be 3D printing gun stocks for your Meta controllers. Quest 3.
VR Foreman
Taskmaster is my favorite funny show on TV and I’m both excited and scared to see its release approaching on Quest 3. The show is absolutely hilarious and the premise of having five comedians do the best stupid tasks for ten weeks. The season just works.
So the opportunity to perform those tasks myself is quite exciting, especially as it has also captured the motion of the presenters, comedians Greg Davies and Alex Horne. But it will live and die by the quality, and possibly even the quantity, of tasks we perform.
Taskmaster VR will definitely be a fun game at first, I just hope it can keep it up.
Vast reaches of the homeworld
The main release of Homeworld 3 may have been delayed at the last minute, and it may also have been about 20 years since we got the last release of Homeworld, but now we’ll soon be able to play a version of the game on a tech. that didn’t even exist when the previous game was released.
Vast Reaches will allow us to command our fleet of spaceships in real time around us in virtual space and it could really be cool to command battles from the middle of the action. Hopefully, it won’t suffer the same kind of delay that Homeworld 3 suffered.
